Our Greek adventure continued when we took a ferry over to the crazy island of Mykonos. We spent the first two days on different beaches. They were stunning I tell you, totally and completely breathtaking. I have a bit of a preference for the second one we went to that was tucked away in a little bay in the Med. With no clouds in the sky, the saltiest water you could ever imagine, and really expensive drinks in hand we pretty much had the best time ever.
Spending time relaxing on the beach was just what we wanted in the middle of our trip. It was a good break from all of the walking and touring we had been doing and would be doing once we got to Italy. Plus look at that water. I want to go jump in it right now. xo

acropolis
Athens got pretty awesome by the second day. It may be because we went to the Acropolis. It could also be because the city wasn't in the middle of a public service strike and riot. Or you know, both.
So, the Acropolis. I don't think my words can adequately describe how cool it was. So I am not even going to try. No it is not because I am somewhat lazy today and frantically trying to find all of the things that are still missing from when I came home from Europe. So here are some photos. Some pretty freaking-awesome photos. So you really can't complain.
The Acropolis was great. You should go. Hop on a place and head over. Because that's exactly what I want to do after looking at these photos again. xo

learning to survive a riot
After our time in Munich we flew to Athens to start our week long adventure in Greece. I had been waiting so long for the Greece-Italy portion of my travels that I could barely contain my excitement. These two countries were must sees once I decided on exchange. With such rich cultures (and delicious food to be eaten) I had high hopes for the last two weeks in Europe and neither disappointed.
The sisterhood-of-the-travelling-pants adventure through Greece started with Athens. It was different then what I expected. It lacked the picturesque scenery that some of the other places had but made up for it in old, historical sites. I think we were all awe-struck when we saw the numerous ancient ruins located perfectly throughout the city.
This was about the time we got ourselves mixed up in the public service riot. not the best place to be situated. Do we run? Or does that look like we are involved? Instead we stood on the outskirts and shot some photos. How often are you in Athens for a riot? Hopefully never again, but it probably tops some of our lists in hilarious stories.
Our night finished off wonderfully though. A beauty view on the top of our hostel roof of the Acropolis. Perfection I tell you, perfection. Plus Mel and Sarah are some pretty cool girls to be spending time with. Just an added bonus of course.

a different sort of day
So catching up on all of the things I did in the last months of my time in Europe seems to be taking much longer then I anticipated. I hope you stick along for the ride because some of my favourite places are still to come. But for now here is more on Munich.
Our last day in Munich started off differently then the rest. The three of us woke up relatively early for a tour of the Dachau concentration camp. Located in the middle of a town, it is hard to believe that a concentration camp was placed there, and remains there as a visitation sight. We spent a majority of the day learning about the happenings of this specific camp, why it was built, and how its story ended. The day feels like a blur now. There was so much to absorb, and all of it was hard to both imagine and grasp. Despite being a depressing tour all three of us felt as if it was necessary to go on while in Munich. And I am so glad we did.
But then the day turned around. It got a lot happier with the help of some wonderful new friends and a few litres of beer. The Bavarian lifestyle knows how to cheer someone up.
We actually met Brett, Christian and Ben on the tour at Dachau and spent the afternoon/night trying out different beer gardens, running through fountains, and eating one of the most delicious meals ever.
