After our night of debauchery with the Bavarians we headed to Neuschwanstein castle located about 2 hours from Munich. I would like to make a note that taking a two hour train ride after the night we had was definitely not our best idea but nonetheless we made it and were stoked to see the castle that inspired the Disney princess castles. This may or may not have been the reason we wanted to go. 
So let's just say Neuschwanstein was all it is cracked up to be. Surrounded by mountains the off-white castle stands out amoung all of the greenery. The best part of the whole thing was standing on Marienbrucke, looking out at the castle with a flowing waterfall underneath. Postcard worthy photo op I tell you. But these pictures I have barely do it justice. Here they are anyways.

This is possibly what perfection looks like. No not me. The castle. Duh. 
We spent such a long time on the Marienbrucke gazing out at the castle and the surrounding area. Later Sarah and I climbed down to the waterfall (where we soon realized I am not nearly as capable of doing such a thing) to get a little taste of the water. yum yum yum. I think this was also the time we discovered sarah lives for danger. Yes danger, not the wilderness. (writers note: most likely no one will understand that. but I am too lazy to explain. sarah and mel can explain). xo

smitten

The last thing I got to see on my Isle of Skye trip was Eileen Donan castle. Now don't get all confused - it's not actually on Isle of Skye. But we stopped at it on our way home and I was in heaven. 
When I first found out I would be going to Scotland on exchange I googled pictures of all the pretty things I could see. This is the first thing that came up. I was smitten. Right from the beginning. At that moment I was ready to hop on a plane and head straight to the castle nestled behind the plants, perched out into a loch. Now that I mention it, I am still happy to hop right back on a plane and back to Scotland. Too bad that's not in the cards right now..and by that I mean I have run out of money. 

No wonder this is one of the most photographed places in Scotland. I-can't-get-enough. xo

inverness

Last week Marie and I went up to Inverness for the day. This town is a main hub for the highlands so we thought we should check it out. It turned out to be one of the windiest days this country has seen in awhile, and then the volcanic ash thing happened so our trip was a little strange. We were soaking wet and freezing but I am still glad I made it up there at least for the day.

Prague is one of those places that I would love to visit again. As soon as we stepped out of the train station I knew I was going to love it. It had the ability to fully take me over. The beautiful architecture that took my breath away, the majestic feeling of the Prague castle, and the delicious Czech food are all reasons that someone could take me back anytime. It is currently in competition for my favourite European city so far. We will see how it holds up! In the meantime here are my favourite shots from our time there.

We all had an amazing time in Prague and weren't quite sure how things were going to top it. Around every corner was something new to discover, something new to lay our eyes on.    If not for the insanely difficult Czech language I would definitely consider living there (we rated cities on how livable they were). For the meantime it will remain in my favourite places. xo

daydreaming

Salzburg is one of those places you daydream about. One that you don't think actually exists because it is too perfect to ever be a reality. It could have been the beautiful weather, or the perfect placement of the river, fortress and Alps, but whatever it is Salzburg knows how to do it right. This city was my flatmate Amy's favourite place we visited and I can totally understand why. I will hopefully never forget images of the crystal clear skies against the Alps backdrop, with a mixture of cute houses and greenery in the foreground. I tried to capture the essence of the city with my camera and this is the best I could do. 

Everything about what we saw in Salzburg was magical. I would definitely recommend this city to anyone travelling in Austria, or near Austria. I am so glad we decided to make the trip all the way over there. After Salzburg we stayed in Austria and made our way up to Vienna (pictures for that coming soon - plus the other 7 cities we visited). But for now it is off to bed and then to Denmark tomorrow morning. xo
