white houses and blue roofs

The Mykonos houses were everything I imagined Greece to be. That may be a bit of a naive statement but it is true. The sisterhood of the travelling pants really set me up for it. Blame it on them. But seriously, that't what I imagined, and in Mykonos it all became a reality.
The houses were the whitest of whites (it is actually required that hotels and businesses repaint it white every year before tourists come in...kind of crazy I know), and the doors were a mesmerizing array of colours. Oh and did I mention the prettiest little churches scattered everywhere. The classic Greek white and blue churches too. It can't get much better.

Isn't it the prettiest?
The famous windmills
I should also make a bit of a shout out to George, the owner of the hotel we stayed at. Basically he is the best. He was the cutest of Greek guys who showed us everywhere we should go and see on the island. Plus he introduced us to Stavros, the owner of Skandinavian bar aka our BFF as we like to call him. Maybe a bit of an exaggeration on Mels part. But he did provide us with some good stories.

Our time in Mykonos has left us with some of the best memories. Beach surprises + windmills + Skando events = Mykonos love.

brussels: the end

We met up with two of my friends from Etobicoke whose hotel we were crashing for our remaining two nights (anything for free accommodation). I had such a good time with them and it was nice having a little taste of home over here. Our last day was extremely lazy. We showed them around a few places, ate the most delicious waffle with ice-cream and enjoyed the night out. Here are a few pictures that capture it all perfectly.

thanks for the recommendation dad

While I was visiting Tess we decided to spend a bit of time in Copenhagen. I kind of loved it the second we got there, and I completely understand why my Dad loves it so much. We first walked around the area surrounding Tivoli and then made our way to the main shopping area (of course). After this we came to Nyhavn which was my absolute favourite. It is right along the canal and is surrounded by some of the prettiest and most colourful buildings. We staked out at one of the patio bars for a few drinks where we met some interesting people, and admired all of the beautiful Danish people around us.
That night we met up with a friend of ours from Etobicoke who had just flown in to Copenhagen. We had some yummy sushi for dinner, a classy pre-drink, and an insane night out. Let's just say that the bus/ferry back to Aarhus was one of the worst experiences of my life (and most embarrassing).
It was definitely a night to remember. I had so much fun with Tess and Dani, and was excited at the prospect of being able to meet up with Dani on a future trip (which I will soon be updating you all on). Oh and thanks Dad for recommending Copenhagen as a place to visit, I probably never would have gotten there otherwise and I am so thankful I did. For now it is off to bed. I spent the day in Inverness with one of my flatmates battling what was one of the windiest days this country has seen in awhile so I am a little exhausted. xo

out for the night

Here are a few more pictures from my trip to Denmark for your Sunday night enjoyment. Tess's friend Trine hosted a lovely Easter dinner for us where we had one of the best meals I have had in a long time. So yummy. And then we made jello shots and went out for a very unconventional Easter night. My kind of day.
And here are a few shots from the previous night. We met up with some of Tess' friends for the pub quiz night and then proceeded to venture to a few other bars over the course of the night.
